The exhibition on Air Conditioning, Ventilation, Refrigerating and Building services held in Mumbai in February showcased the manufacturing potential of the domestic HVAC&R industry. The event spread over three days kicked off with a panel discussion on “Importance of Design and Architecture for Sustainability, Big Savings and Performance in the Long Run”. Special designated areas called “country pavilions” were created to accommodate participants from Germany, USA, China and Turkey and witnessed further participation from countries like Korea, Japan, England, UK, France, Canada, Taiwan, Singapore, New Zealand, Thailand, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Malaysia, Vietnam and many more.
ACREX Hall of Fame Awards and ACREX Awards of Excellence were organized for the first time this year to recognize product innovations & green technology. The Hall of Fame trophy was awarded to the GVK group of companies for their outstanding contribution to the creation of Mumbai International Airport Pvt. Ltd. Another first was, theexhibition served as a global networking platform for the industry with heads of international associations which included Associazione Italiana Frigoristi, The Federation of Thai Industries, Turkish HVAC-R Exporters Union, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Society of Environmental Engineering, Eurammom, Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Industry Club, Chinese Association of Refrigeration.
ISHRAE also organized Quest – a student quiz competition for the second year in a row. The quiz is primarily designed to introduce engineering students to the HVAC&R industry. The workshops and seminars during the event provided an opportunity to the participants to share expertise on the latest trends and topics related to HVAC&R industry. The issues discussed included, air distribution & heat load, tall, super tall and mega tall building systems design, design of Cold storage as a part of cold storage, reducing building energy, fire & safety inside glass facades and a panel discussion on convergence of an architect and developer interaction.
