Designed by ARK Reza Kabul Associates, the recently completed hospitality project -The Concord Hotels & Suits in Nairobi, combines luxury and convenience with hints of traditional African accents.
The double heighted entrance lobby, specially selected furniture & artifacts which reflect local ethos , and playing around with colours are some of the design elements. As the local temperatures vary between 17 to 24 degrees Celsius throughout the year, the lobby and other public spaces are non-air-conditioned and designed with ample cross ventilation. The stepped and leveled ceiling adds character to the lobby, while achieving maximum height as no large HVAC services run overhead.
Culturally oriented restaurants mark another design element. The electric red coupled with earthy brown theme of Umami is a reflection of the oriental culture; ethnic materials add Indian touch in Curry Flavours, the indian restaurant and Bonhomie, French for friendliness, is a casual meeting hub with the rattan furniture and open space.
