The Southern interface and the grand finale of Archumen 1314 were hosted at The Capitol in Bengaluru this month in association with ROCA, Pidilite, Grundfos and InterfaceFlor.
The event is organized by Ethos, an organisation founded by Gita Balakrishnan, a Kolkata-based architect. The organization aims to build awareness on built environment among architecture and civil engineering students in India. Archumen 1314 was supported by The Indian Institute of Architects and National Association of Students of Architecture.
The episodes in the east, north and west were held previously in Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune respectively. The Southern Interface was followed by the national finale where the eight national finalists from the four regional winners battled it out for the cash awards. Archumen 1314 saw participation from over 1500 students from close to 120 colleges of architecture across India.
The Grand Finale
National Finalists were Jadavpur University, BIT Mesra, GBTU Lucknow, IIT Roorkee, PVPCOA Pune, VNIT Nagpur, Salem School of Architecture and SPA JNAFAU Hyderabad. Two-year national champions from PVPCOA Pune – Prasad Shekhar and Ashwin Joshi scored a hat-trick by lifting the championship trophy yet again. The first runners-up were Aparna Ramesh and Varad Lahoti from VNIT Nagpur followed by Rahul Jadon and Swapnil Singh from GBTU Lucknow in the third position.
