BASF India Limited announced improved sales and earnings for the first quarter of FY 2013-14 with total sales of Rs. 13,568 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2013 as compared to Rs.12, 888million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, an increase of 5.3%. As per Prasad Chandran, Chairman & Managing Director, BASF India Limited, the sale was driven in particular by a strong demand for products from the agrochemicals division. Company has initiated an Agricultural Research Station in Lonikand near Pune to test new agro chemical compounds and evaluate their utility for introduction in Indian and other Asian markets. The Agricultural Research Station will be a part of BASF’s global research and development Network.The Company has also approved the setting up of precious metal catalyst plant at its existing manufacturing site in Mangalore in the last quarter of 2013.
