A high-profile trade and investment mission led by Houston’s Mayor was in India recently to boost bilateral trade relations and joint investment initiatives. Besides the Houston’s Mayor Annise D. Parker, the delegation included city leaders, Greater Houston Partnership (GHP) officials, Houston Airport System, Texas Medical Center, Port of Houston, Indian American Chamber of Commerce (IACCGH) and India- American business representatives.
A round table meeting in New Delhi with a CIDC delegation led by Director General, Dr. P. R. Swarup and industry captains focused on increasing trade and investment between Houston and India and firming up the strategy for exploring areas of joint cooperation and actions.
In the meeting, representatives from Simplex Infrastructures Limited, Ashoka Buildcon Limited, Vijay Nirman Company Pvt. Ltd, URC Construction (P) Ltd., Engineering Projects India Limited, Mukesh & Associates, Indian Society for Trenchless Technology, Delhi State Cancer Institute, the Alumni Association of IIT, Kanpur, and senior officials from CIDC participated.
Mayor Parker and the delegates form Houston expressed a keen desire to work closely and partake in the emergent needs of India’s flagship programs like “Build India”, “Skill India”, “Make in India” and “Swachh Bharat”.
