Interiors have been gaining great momentum and attention. The term interior architecture has also been getting expanded and explored in projects and on paper. The relationship of interiors to architecture is shifting in tune with the social and functional factors. Architects look at understanding the design of the buildings from inside out.

In this issue of Buildotech, we are looking at the works of four young designers from China who have been boldly using contemporary designs with complex engineering. Parallel to this account, we are introducing two young Indian designers who have transformed spaces that could have otherwise been mundane: Ar.Vinit Nikumbh whose firm Bricolage creates design using mixed media and Ar. Joel Roy who believes in playing around with his own design instincts in creating spaces with fluidity. And we have the architects team Mujib and Lalita whose works reflect the dynamism and vigour of their approach.

Ar. Sudhir B from Kerala tells us how important it is for architects to be socially responsible. Arcasia, an association of a number institutes Asian countries has come out with a charter covering social responsibility as an ethical ideology. Starting this issue Buildotech will publish case studies and essays on different areas of responsible architecture.

The issue also brings to you a glimpse of the Indian ceramic tiles industry. India is among the top three countries in the world in ceramic tiles production and the manufacturers in Morbi, Gujarat are proud of the fact that it is Morbi’s contribution that has taken India to a top slot.

Not to leave out the technology session that talks about how construction industry can take benefit from technologies like BIM to ensure safety standards…
