Today, India is one of the global leaders in Green Buildings with more than 4,500 projects adopting green concepts with a building footprint of 5.2 billion sqft. It is likely to double in the next five years. This has created enormous demand for credible green building products, materials and technologies.
In India, the market potential for green products, materials and technologies is Rs 18,00,000 Crores, said Mr ParasuRaman R, Chairman, CII-Green Products and Services Council. To unleash the potential, CII has launched GreenPro- Green Product Certification, a first -of –its- kind Eco label for building products in India.
GreenPro adopts life cycle based approach for evaluating the products. It helps customers to make an informed choice to buy eco-friendly building products. Thus far, more than 350 products from leading product manufacturers have adopted GreenPro certification and are available in the market. This includes leading building product manufacturers such as ACC Cement, Nippon Paints, Saint-Gobain Glass, Asahi India Glass, Godrej Furniture, Visaka Industries, etc.,
To create awareness on this subject, Hyderabad is hosting the GreenPro Summit 2018 on 17- 18th April 2018. The Conference will have all the key stakeholders from the building sector such as GreenPro manufacturers, Builders, Product Specifiers, etc., These stakeholders will debate on the challenges, opportunities and the way forward for facilitating Green Product market transformation in the Country.
S Srinivas, Deputy Executive Director, CII-Godrej GBC has mentioned that Green Building movement in India has facilitated in developing products and technologies which are ecologically superior and economically viable.
