IIID’s design yatra in Pune

Design Yatra, a nationwide initiative by Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID), touring 29 cities of India, covering 15,000 kms in four Nano cars, visited Pune in January 2017.The convoy of designers and architects visited India’s one of the largest design institute, MIT Institute of Design with an aim to spread awareness and take design to the masses.

Acknowledging the motto of ‘My City, My Promise’ by IIID’s Design Yatra, MITID exhibited furniture with innovative design,which were designed by the student and faculty.

Prof. Amit Deshmukh – Head of Interior and Furniture Design Department said, “We have been associated with Indian Railways as well and working on the projects with them to improve the space and overall passenger services. MITID is in the process of adopting Loni Railway Station and students have proposed design solutions to the railway authorities. These solutions include improving the seating and waiting areas for passenger, structuring the vendor kiosks, signage and way finding & providing solutions to ease out railway porter’s work.”
