India’s First MW Scale PV-Diesel Hybrid Solar Power Plant

Chemtrols Solar Pvt Ltd, one of the winners from India at the Intersolar India, 2013, provides solar solutions with a commitment to reliability and quality. Its one megawatt solar plant installed on the roof of Alpine Knits in Tirupur is the first of its kind in India, and only the second in the world. This hybrid plant synchronizes with the incoming 11KV grid and provides energy to the mill for captive consumption and during grid failure.

The unique solution features the Fuel Saver Controller that monitors the diesel generator-set electrical parameters and helps synchronize the SMA solar string inverters with the in-house diesel generator to provide up to 65% of the rated DG output. This saves not only utility costs, but also up to 5 million Rupees in diesel consumption. Alpine Knits also earns Renewable Energy Certificates that can increase revenue by up to 18 million Rupees per year.
