Living Under A Rock

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

In the town of Setenil de las Bodegas in Spain, 3,000 of its inhabitants literally live underneath a rock. The town sits along a narrow river gorge weather-beaten by the Rio Trejo River, with many of the houses built into and under the walls of the gorge itself.

These natural caves offer its residents certain incentives being that they don’t need to build complete houses to keep out the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter. The town is also actually a pretty happening place with bars, restaurants etc.
