Despite 99% of editors of architecture & design magazines along with their support team being women themselves, I fail to understand why media is so male centric when it comes to architecture. Whether, it is calling for a talk/panel discussion in a seminar, introduction of the firm in a gathering or a publication, we women in architecture (more so – in partnership practices) are meted out a rather raw deal. This is despite of women partners putting in equal efforts or many a times even more efforts than our male counterparts. Today, 80 % of an architecture class in any architecture college are women and the most famous & the busiest architects in the world are also women. Thus, it is high time that architecture as a profession should be free of this gender bias. And media can play a huge role in the same by giving women in architecture their rightful dues.
