Over 1,500 architects participated the presentations and panel discussions focused on areas like urbanization, sustainability and innovation. . The convention included an expo that showcased architectural and building products. The works of master architects from India, recent award-winning projects, and award-winning students’ works were on display too. NATCON 2013 introduced an awareness pavilion that gave information about architectural practices, and a festival of short films on architecture. The significant outcome of the national convention was the making of ‘Chennai Charter’ which recommends the formation of a Ministry of Architecture and a Public Architecture Department like the Public Works Department.
